Kate opened her eyes. She wasn’t entirely sure why, but she wasn’t surprised to see Yelena in her apartment, eating a bowl of cereal - even though she was positive she’d locked the door before going to bed last night. Blinking, she said “What are you doing?”

“Waiting for you to wake up” Yelena said, before finishing off the cereal and drinking the milk out of the bowl. “I have it on good authority that your college is officially over for the summer. Which means you can spend all week showing me around New York.”

“And you broke into my apartment to ask me to be your tour guide?” Kate asked, an amused tone in her voice. “Does that mean you’re only in the city for the week?” Yelena’s visits were always unpredictable, but Kate had hoped they would have more time to spend together now that she was done with school for the summer.

Yelena grinned, before saying “Oh no. I plan to spend as much time with you as possible before school restarts” With a wink, she added “But once our sightseeing is over I don’t expect we’ll be leaving the apartment for a while.” She got into bed next to Kate, wrapping her arms around the brunette.

With a happy sigh, Kate said “Well then what’s the rush? The city can wait another day. Let’s just spend today right here.” She snuggled closer to Yelena, suddenly looking forward to this summer a lot more than she did yesterday.
