Jackie sat a little distance from her teammates. Normally she loved being surrounded by other people. But right now she was feeling scared, daydreaming about getting home to the safety of civilization and her parents. And she didn’t want her teammates to see her cry.
Hearing footsteps, she wiped the tears from her face. Looking up, she saw it was Shauna. Wordlessy, the other girl sat down and wrapped her arms around Jackie, pulling her into a hug. It occurred to Jackie that despite being homesick, as long as she had Shauna, she had a piece of home with her.
