“Are you sure about this?” Jessica asked, not for the first time tonight. They’d been going back and forth over the idea of Jessica turning Adilyn into a vampire for several weeks now. And while Jessica was happy that her girlfriend wanted to spend eternity with her, she also wanted to make sure that was what the other woman wanted. After all, nobody should be forced into this life.

But Adilyn was adamant that this was what her heart desired. “I told you, this is what I want.” While Adilyn knew her father wouldn’t be too happy about her becoming a vampire, her mind was made up. One lifetime with Jessica wasn’t enough for her. And eventually Andy would come around to accepting this reality, when Adilyn made it clear this was her choice. At least, she hoped he would.

“What if I can’t stop?” Jessica worried. Although her ability to control herself around Adilyn had increased dramatically in the time they’d become a couple, she was still worried she’d accidentally drain her girlfriend dry instead of turning her.

“I trust you,” Adilyn said, her voice full of conviction.

“Well, that makes one of us,” Jessica said dryly. But after a long moment of hesitation, she sunk her fangs into the other woman’s neck.

The sting of her girlfriend’s fangs made Adilyn gasp. But she knew the pain would be worth it. This might be the end of her mortal life, but it was the beginning of her eternal one.
