Sam sat on the floor in Deena’s room, reading over the track listing on the mixtape Deena had made for her after she’d moved to Sunnyvale. As she examined the writing on the box, she didn’t hear the brunette wake up. “What are you doing?” Sam was startled out of her thoughts by Deena’s voice.
Turning slightly so that she could see her girlfriend, who was still stretched out across the bed, she gave a smile, one that didn’t reach her eyes. “I was just looking to see what songs were on this tape you made me.” She probably should have done that sooner, but in her defense, the past few days had been a lot to deal with. “I didn’t realize how many sad songs were on here.”
Deena frowned and said “Of course they’re sad. I thought you’d forgotten me when you moved to Sunnyvale.”
Shaking her head, Sam said “I could never forget you.” She moved from her spot on the floor to plant a kiss on her girlfriend’s lips. Then she said “You saved my life. Now you’re stuck with me forever.”
With a light laugh, Deena said “And I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
