“I hadn’t even got out of town when the mark appeared” Diana said, gesturing to her hand. “I’m telling you, this is serious.”
The surprise was obvious on Faye’s face. “So what do you want to do about it?” she asked. She was still mad Diana had wanted to leave Chance Harbor.
“We need to rebind the Circle” Diana said.
Faye rolled her eyes. “I prefer having my solo magic.”
“Please Faye.” Diana’s voice revealed her desperation. “I’m scared.” If the rest of her half-siblings showed up, who knows what might happen. “I’m worried I’ll give into the desire to use dark magic.” Diana didn’t like to think of herself as weak, but she knew the magic was tempting, and she was terrified.
Faye’s expression softened. “Look, I get it. But I’m not exactly crazy about the Circle being bound if you’re just going to try taking off again.” She was surprised at how honest she was heing about her feelings.
“I won’t, I swear.” Diana had thought that leaving Chance Harbor was the answer to her problems, but all it seemed to do was create more of them. “I’m just worried about what I’ll do.”
Faye nodded. She wasn’t thrilled about giving up her solo magic. But she could see Diana’s point. If the roles were reversed, she would have given into the weakness to use dark magic. “Okay. Let’s call the rest of the Circle together then. I guess the sooner we get this over with, the better.”
