As a CEO, Lexa wasn’t known for being weak. Part of her job was not letting people see when she wasn’t in control.
But today was really testing her ability to remain in control. She’d had a meeting with several executives at an international company her company was considering buying. And at least three of them had reeked of the cigarettes they’d probably had in the limo from the hotel to the office.
Lexa spent the whole meeting feeling a dull ache form behind one eye. No doubt the start of a migraine. As soon as the meeting was over, Lexa had her assistant clear her schedule for the rest of the day. Then she headed to her townhouse, where she pulled the curtains shut and settled into bed with a weighted eyemask.
She wasn’t sure how long she was asleep for, but when she woke up the sun had set. Getting out of bed, she sat back down when the room started to spin.
Closing her eyes, Lexa heard the door to the bedroom open. “How are you feeling?” her wife asked in a soft voice.
Lexa moaned as the weighted eyemask was replaced with an ice pack and fingers gently rubbed her temples. There was one person who was allowed to see Lexa in her moments of weakness, and it was Clarke. Comforted by her wife’s hands and the knowledge that she was cared for, Lexa drifted back to sleep while she waited for the migraine to pass.
