Despite having werewolf stamina, Erica felt as if she couldn’t stay awake. She’d been up all night cramming for her chemistry final, and the lack of sleep was obvious. Thankfully her exam was first period, and she thought she did okay. Which was good, since she didn’t want to have to repeat the class.

Now it was lunch time and she was sitting in the cafeteria, blinking rapidly in an effort to stay awake. She must have started nodding off, because she didn’t even hear Cora approaching until she sat down next to her. Giving her a look, Cora said “Are you okay?”

Erica yawned. “I’m fine.” She took a sip of her frappuccino, then added “There’s just not enough caffeine in the world to get through today.”

Cora raised her eyebrows. “Don’t tell me my brother didn’t talk to you about that before biting you?” Cora knew Derek had gone over the basics with Erica before giving her the bite, but she should have known he didn’t cover everything. “Caffeine is the same as alcohol for us. It has no effect.”

Erica stared, before yawning again. She was too tired to effectively convey her annoyance.

“Come on” said Cora, grabbing Erica by the arm and pulling her to her feet. “We’re blowing off the rest of the day so you can take a nap.” She steered Erica towards the parking lot, intending to drive Erica to the loft and spend the afternoon making sure the blonde actually slept today.
