Despite having a fairly good grip on her vampire hunger by now, there was one side effect to feeding that Caroline hadn’t mastered yet. Every time she drank from someone, she felt the desire to sleep with them. But even though she had no problem compelling people to forget she drank from them, she refused to compel anyone into sleeping with her. Feeding on blood was essential to survival. Sex was not, and Caroline refused to do to anybody what Damon had done to her.

At the moment, Caroline’s fangs were in the neck of a pretty woman. As she finished feeding, she compelled the human to forget the encounter and leave. Then she turned to face Katherine, who had taken an interest in Caroline since her actions had resulted in the blonde becoming a vampire. “How do you do this without wanting to sleep with everyone you drink from?” A blush crept into her cheeks.

Katherine chuckled. “It becomes easier with practice and age. But if you want, I can help you with that.” She ran her thumb over Caroline’s face, wiping away the blood that was in the corner of her lips. Then she pressed her lips to Caroline’s.

Caroline sighed with pleasure, feeling herself relax against Katherine. Her feelings towards the brunette were complicated, but Katherine was gorgeous and Caroline wasn’t going to say no if the older vampire was offering to sleep with her.

Katherine broke the kiss, then said “Let’s go back to my place.”
