First there was Tatia. The Viking woman was beautiful and kind, and taken from this Earth far too soon for Rebekah’s liking. She still hasn’t quite forgiven Esther.

Then there was Katherine. She was equally beautiful and kind, until life turned her cruel. Rebekah thought when Katherine became a vampire, they might have eternity together. But Katherine became hard with age, and it broke Rebekah’s heart. She still hasn’t quite forgiven Klaus.

Finally there was Elena. She was also beautiful and kind, and Rebekah hated her for it. So Rebekah ripped her human life from her, becoming the cruel one.

But when Elena found new life as a vampire, Rebekah found her hatred fading. And when Elena took the cure and offered to share it with Rebekah, they both got back the human lives they longed for. Suddenly eternity didn’t matter anymore. What mattered was the time they had together.
